We Do It Ourselves!

Working on the Summer collection, we ordered some cotton gauze fabric online - thinking it's perfect for staying cool.

Not seeing the color in person, we weren't completely sure what we would get.  Needless to say, we weren't in love, so we decided to do some experimenting.

The first step was to ruche the fabric - sewing on the machine with heavy thread, the entire width of the fabric, then pulling on of the treads to bunch it up.

We then mixed the dye (used RIT Dye Scarlet and Navy) to make a rich Plum.

We left it for about 2 hours.  Next time I think I would leave it in even longer - when the fabric is rinsed and washed, it will lighten up quite a bit.

We love how it turned out!  We are dying everything now!
